Beyond
Twist and turns of fate
Lines of our palms
Hands raised for prayers
And unfulfilled desires
There is a narrow path
Taking walk on it fearlessly
This is what life is called
Steps taken, dreams woven
On wings of determination
With desire to touch sky
Yet with grounded feet
This is known as life
A bit of your’s a bit of my story line
Rest is weaved by breathe’s
Spiritual tale it is called life
Changing with changing seasons
Evolving with passing years
Some expressed some unexpressed
Emotion’s gift is this life
In end on issue of summon
From that side of sky
Winding up all
To get ready for new journey
This is all that we call life
बहुत सुंदर 🙂

The Hindi original is superb. Even the translation is great though I always prefer Hindi original. It could have been added off as a Harbans Rai Bachchan poem. Keep it up.

Thank You so much Sir! Yes Hindi original is always better. I only translate for my non hindi readers. But translation kills the real soul!

There is only one translation which I thought was really great ( that’s because I cannot read the original), It is Edward Fitzgerald’s Rubayyat. by Omar Khayyam. Can never forget ‘the moving finger writes and having writ moves on…’

Kismet ki karvaton
Haton ki lakeiron
Maangi gayi duaon
Adhuri tamannaon se
Kahin aage nikalkar
Jo ek sankiran pagdandi hai
Uss par bina dige bina dare
Chalne ka naam hai zindagi
Uthte kadmon, bunte sapno
Hoslon ke paron par
Asmaan chune ki chahat liye
Zamiin se jude rehne ki
Pehchaan hai zindagi
Kuch teri kuch meri kahani hai
Baaki saanson ki buni gayi
Ruhaani dastaan hai zindagi
Badalte mausmon ke sang badalti
Umr ki silvaton se gujarti
Kuch kahe kuch unkahe
Jazbaton ki saugaat hai
Ant mein us aur se aaye
Farmaan par ek naye safar ki
Shuruaat ke liye
Sab kuch sameit
Chal dene ka naam hai
Yeh jo teen akshron ka
Alfaaz hai Zindagi

A ‘Madrasi’ like me, who never learnt Hindi in any school or college, read in IN HINDI – and prefer to read always in Hindi, rather than the translation.

Incredible is the word, Ms. Sethi you should write in Hindi more often. Aap overall bahot achha likhte ho magar Hindi mein kuch mithas si jyada aa jati hai aapki lekhni mein.

Thank You so much Dhiraj! I too feel more comfortable writing in hindi, but it only happens when it comes naturally. I’m so glad you enjoy my writings ☺

May be you need to step out of your comfort zone and toil a bit with Hindi, it’ll be worth.
